What is so special about 3 Day Startup?

3 Day Startup is an entrepreneurial event where 40 participants get to work on their startup ideas in teams of 8 alongside experienced mentors. It is the perfect event for you to get insights into how a startup functions. The mentors will help you over the course of three days to develop your idea, business model and a MVP.

When and where does 3 Day Startup take place?

3 Day Startup will be organized from the 31st of January to 2nd February 2020. It is organized at the WHU- Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, Germany. All the aspects of the event take place on the university campus. Your accommodation will also be organized within walking distance of the event place.

Who can apply for 3 Day Startup?

Anyone with the motivation to learn more about the startup culture is welcome to apply. 3 Day Startup accepts applications from academic fields such as, but not limited to, business, computer science, design, mathematics and natural sciences. We encourage everyone with a passion for their idea or startups in general to apply.

Is there a winner for the event?

Yes. 3 Day Startup, like most other events, will have a winner. We climax with a pitch battle between the teams. Our jury, which comprises of our sponsors selects a winner based on the startup idea and viability of the business model.

What prize do the winners receive?

The winners will receive the unique chance to get feedback from our expereienced jury and mentors. Moreover, they will receive the chance to pitch their idea to leadership team of our main sponsor in order to raise funding for their startup. In addition, they will receive legal help to aid them in the process of setting up their startup from one of our sponsors. However, the specifications of the prize is subject to change.

Do I have to pay for the event?

The participation in 3 Day Startup costs 45 €. This is to prevent/ reduce no-shows at the event and  will cover all the costs associated to your accomodation, food and entertainment at the event.

Can I work on my idea before the event?

The purpose of 3 Day Startup is to aid in the realization of your idea. However, our event focuses on supporting early-stage entrepreneurs. Applying with an already established idea does not conform with our mission. Nonetheless, this is applicable on a case-by-case basis. How are the ideas selected?

A week before the event all ideas will be gathered from the participants and put for a vote anonymously. The 8 most voted ideas will be selected. Please note that only the participants mentors and partners will be allowed to vote.

How will the teams be assigned?

Once the ideas are selected, we will release a survey to note your preferences for the 8 selected ideas. We will assign you to teams based on your preference.

How does the application process work?

The application process is quite simple. You can submit your application by clicking on the 'apply now' button. You will be prompted to enter information regarding your education and motivation. Please fill in the required information and attach your CV.

You will receive a confirmation of application. From this point we will try to process it and get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.
